3 Unconventional Ideas For Wedding Planners
Aside from traditional wedding and event planning services, here are a few uncommon ideas to consider:
1. Teach a class. Teach a class to local brides and grooms about wedding planning, design or managing the budget. A class allows you to share your knowledge, experience and information with potential clients or clients who still want your help but might not be able to hire you for full wedding planning. You could teach your class at a bridal show, at a local venue or in your own studio.
2. Sell a newsletter subscription. If you have in-depth knowledge of your market including vendors, events and venues, you can share the information and profit from it by writing a newsletter and charging a subscription fee for it. Brides and grooms have access to TONS of free information but what if you offered exclusive insider news and tips just for your local market?
3. Create a local wedding tour for brides and grooms. Organize and coordinate a tour of local wedding venues and vendors around your town. You can be the host and sell tickets to brides and grooms in advance. You may want to include transportation, lunch and various stops around town. Everyone involved can help promote the event and benefit from meeting many potential clients.
Do you offer any unconventional services in your event planning business?

Great ideas. My secondary service, which I don’t often advertise is the ability to officiate weddings. It sure has come in handy the one time a pastor was not able to make it to a wedding of mine! Plus, I like knowing I can always marry a friend 😉
That is a great idea Brit! If you officiate, do you just have your assistant get everyone down the aisle and manage the wedding party?
#3 is a great idea!
Thanks Denae! I think it would be a great idea for wedding planners to try. Or for a few planners to partner together to make it happen in their city.
I would definitely like to try #3!
It sounds like such a fun idea, right?! Thanks for taking time to comment and share!
