Website and Technical Resources

Godaddy.com – I use godaddy.com to host my business and personal websites.  I have had good experience with this company including helpful customer service and reasonable pricing. You can also use their tool called “Website Tonight” to create a basic website.  I created my first wedding planning business website using Website Tonight for the first six months until I could afford a professional designer.  They also have a “Fax Thru Email” service if you need a fax but want to avoid the clutter and expense of having an actual fax machine and phone line.

StudioPress Website Templates - I used StudioPress for the first time to create the Planner’s Lounge. It was surprisingly easy to get started with a simple and professional WordPress website template that I could customize with my logo, colors and wording.  If you have never used a WordPress based website template, here is a free video series to help you learn.  StudioPress has a great wedding-themed template that would look great for a wedding planning company.

Legal

Legal Zoom - Whenever I have basic contract and legal needs, Legal Zoom always has an answer or a resource I can use.  You can use Legal Zoom to file a LLC, create a contract, file a trademark and much more.  Keep in mind that you may be able to search your state government’s website and file these documents for a lower cost.

Wedding Planner Contract – Legal Zoom has a basic contract for wedding planning services for $14.95.  I highly recommend that you consult with a lawyer to customize your own contract but this contract is better than nothing.

General Business Resources

Dropbox – Dropbox is a super easy way to share and backup files. And best of all, it’s free for up to 2GB of data.  You can share folders, photos and documents with your clients and with your staff.  You can use it to make an online backup of client files and contracts.

Tiny Prints Business Cards & Stationery – I love that you can now get stylish business cards and stationery from Tiny Prints. They also have great business thank you cards.

Aweber Email Newsletters - I have used a variety of email newsletter companies for my businesses but am most happy with the service and flexibility that Aweber offers.   We use Aweber for our Planner’s Lounge exclusive emails.

Quickbooks - Quickbooks is financial management software for your business.  You can track expenses, invoice clients, do payroll, calculate taxes and more. I prefer the online version which has a low monthly subscription rate. It allows my bookkeeper to access my account anytime without coming to my office.

Elance - Great place to outsource web design, logos, office tasks, research and any project you can think of.  You can even outsource your blogging and social media to an expert from Elance.

99 Designs Logo Design – They offer logo design and other graphic design services.  You can order a logo from a predesigned template ($99) or have a logo custom made (starting at $295).

Paypal - Paypal is the easiest way to start accepting credit cards in your business. You can sign up for a business account and start taking credit cards within minutes.

Favorite Online Wedding Products and Websites

I Do Professional Wedding Planning SoftwareI have used the professional version for the past four years along with the Wedding Planner Toolbox and have been very happy with the software.  It was made for Windows but they have easy ways to make it work if you use Apple products.  The software also has basic accounting software built into it.

Beau-Coup - Unique party supplies, client gifts and wedding decorations. One of my favorite things to purchase from this site is their wedding favor packaging options.

Plates & Napkins – Designer party supplies. I use this site most for baby shower, bridal shower and kid’s party supplies.

Luna Bazaar - Stylish wedding decorations and party supplies.  I have ordered their candle holders, parasols and paper lanterns for more weddings than I can count.

Premier Packaging - I love using this site to package gifts for clients and vendors.  This is my favorite site to order guest welcome bags.

My Own Labels - Great site for custom labels, cards, favor tags, small business marketing materials and so much more.
